Can I buy a Course day as a gift. Yes, you can buy a course day or days as a gift. We will contact all gift voucher holders on our next available course day. If the course day is not suitable the voucher is valid until a day that suits the owner of the voucher. By purchasing this voucher, course day or trip you are acknowledging acceptance of the organisers terms and conditions (see bottom of this page). This is the entry level or beginners level for people who have no previous experience and who would like to begin kayaking. A kayak is closed craft, as seen in the pic. We will be using single person kayaks which are made from a plastic material making them tough while lightweight. What grade or type of water will the course be held on? The course will be held on class 1 water, that is to say that the water will be flat, there will be no rapids or significant obstacles but there will be moderate flow. This is always dependent on water levels on the day of the course. Where will the course be held? Usually on the flat section of water above the bridge in Slane or somewhere similar. Is there qualified instruction? Yes, the courses are delivered by experienced and qualified kayak instructors. You should have a pair of old lightweight trainers or a pair of canoe booties would be even better. Also, your normal swimming gear with a towel and a tee shirt (which will get wet). If you have your own wet suit that would be great but don't worry wet suits and all other equipment will be provided. Yes, you should bring a lunch and a drink and perhaps a snack bar which you can take in the kayak with you. Bars such as Mars or Snickers which are sealed are most suitable. Starting from 12 years with no upper limit. Meet at 10am usually at Slane bridge, the location will be confirmed two days prior to each course day. We break for lunch at 12.30 or so and finish between 3.30 & 4.00pm Yes, you must be able to swim 25mtr in the river. Do I need previous experience? No, we assume that you have no previous kayaking experience. How much will the course cost? The cost is € 60 per person. Can I continue kayaking after the course?
